FAQ
Q: Why are we doing this?
A: Everyone has their own reasons but mainly as a challenge, to do something that is our of our comfort zones, and obviously we're bored. |
Q: How much are you hoping to raise?
A: We are hoping to raise £15,000. All costs (e.g. pilot boat, accomodation etc. will be paid by us so all money raised will go to CHASE |
Q: What is Chase Children's Hospice?
A: Chase is a charity that looks after children with life-limiting illnesses. Log onto the CHASE website to read and get more information. |
Q: How far is the swim?
A: The shortest distance is 21 miles |
Q: What about the tides?
A: The tides, current and waves will mean we will have to adjust our course. Swimming against a strong tide could even push us backwards. It is likelt that we will have to swim a lot more than 21 miles. |
Q: What happens when we reach France?
A: We climb on the rocks, have a photo taken, get back on the boat, hopefully celebrate with a glass or two and then endure the 3 hour trip back to Dover. Unfortunately we are not allowed to land 'officially' as we would be illegal immigrants. So much for my ideas of champagne, cheese, wine and French hospitality! |
Q: What are we going to do afterwards??
A: We collapse, celebrate, go on holiday and plan never to sea swim again. No not really, of course it will have motivated us to keep on swimming and go on to bigger and better things. Hopefully we will raise our target of £15,000 for the CHASE charity. |
